IELTS Reading Overview

The Reading test takes 60 Minutes, and it contains 40 Questions. There are three reading passages with a total of 1500 to 2000 words to read. Reading passages for the test are taken from magazines, journals, books, and newspapers.


Remember unlike the listening test, in the reading test No extra time is given at the end to transfer your answers to the answer sheet. Time can be your worst enemy since you only have an hour to finish reading the questions locating the answers and transferring them on to the answer sheet.


IELTS Reading test does NOT test out how good you can comprehend the passage; it tests specific skills called Skimming and Scanning. You need reading speed and techniques to accurately answer the questions.
